Hyperbaric Oxygen THERAPY
A good friend of mine told me about HBOT, although the same principal has been in use for many years for divers, as a medical treatment it seems that the majority of MS sufferers are familiar with HBOT and very few are aware that this form of treatment can be an aid for those of us who suffer from a multitude of illnesses, this is not a wonder cure but it does give a temporary improvement to various elements of particular illnesses/conditions that have been sustained either by hereditary or in some cases injury sustained by accident.
Over the past two decades, extensive international medical research has demonstrated that HBO can play an extremely important role in the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS). In many European countries, HBO is now considered an integral part of the MS treatment program – in England alone, over 10,000 MS patients are currently receiving hyperbaric oxygen treatment.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a scientific, evidence-based medical treatment that is preventive, effective, safe and non-invasive.
It is a well-established treatment for divers suffering from decompression illness. It is also used in treating other conditions which includes Gas embolism, carbon monoxide poisoning, serious infections, and non-healing wounds as a result of diabetes or radiation injury.
Physiological benefits of HBOT
- Increased neuronal energy metabolism in the brain
- Can create sustained cognitive improvement
- Wakes up dormant (sleeping) brain cells that stay alive but are not actively “firing”.
- Enhances the body’s ability to fight bacterial and viral infections.
- Acts as an anti-inflammatory
- Deactivate toxins and poisons (e.g. side effects from some chemotherapy, spider bites, air pollution, etc.)
- Enhances wound healing
- Creates an immediate aerobic state
- Removes free radicals
- Reduces tissue swelling
Why this is of particular interest to me?
A few years ago I suffered a minor trauma to the head resulting in a ‘cerebral hematoma‘, in plain English this is blood on the brain or as I sometimes refer to it, similar to a stroke.
This affected my speech and general coordination, although these symptoms were quite severe at the time and I was submitted to hospital for several days, over time these ailments have significantly improved.
Hence my move, living here is healthier for me, not only dietary but more sun and physical activities are a great help.
I intend to make an appointment for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, there are facilities in Manila & Davao. Search for a facility in your country, you may well be surprised how readily available this treatment is.
HBOT in other countries, such as; United Kingdom, China, Russia and Taiwan, HBOT is used to treat as many as 74 indications, including Stroke, Traumatic brain injury, PTSD and multiple sclerosis.
- Advance Hyperbaric Life-Support Inc. is currently the largest and most modern state of the art walk-in multiplace hyperbaric medical (HBOT) facility in the Philippines today.
